Matthew Camphuis
Attorney
Matthew is a PORAC Legal Defense Fund (LDF) panel attorney and a California Correctional Supervisors’ Organization (CCSO) panel attorney. As such, he handles all manners of administrative disciplinary cases, from interrogation through appeal, and CCW denial appeals. Prior to his time at Castillo Harper, APC, Matthew worked as in-house counsel for a large correctional officers’ association, representing officers during internal affairs investigations, defending against adverse actions, at pre-disciplinary hearings, and by litigating appeals before the State Personnel Board.
In addition to his employment defense practice, Matthew is part of the Firm’s Civil Litigation Team, and assists clients with Probate matters. He began his law career focusing on tax controversy by helping taxpayers fight the powerful IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. He also has significant estate planning experience and has helped families and individuals plan for end-of-life or worst-case incapacity scenarios.
